The Home Secretary, Mr E. otiortti has informed the Mayor ot Leicester that the King has approved "the restoration to your ancient town of its former status as a city/ Leicester, whose history goes back to the time of the i&*. occupation, was called burh m AD. 918 and a city in Bomesdayßook.-DailyMail.
