A deputation from the National Peace Council waited oti the Premier on Saturday and urged that persons imprisoned under the Defence Act should not be compelled to herd with criminals.
31 r JVlassey this was an exaggera turn and was going too far. The scheme of defence had been approved by Parliament and the people and his government took the responsibility of the Act just a* the previous government had done, They were willing to improve the Act, but the young fellows of the country must be trained to do their duty in the event of the empire being brought into war, and the government would stand or fall by the principle of the scheme.
