AUCKLAND GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET.
Potatoes: The Wimmera brought 64 bags from Sydney, and. the Victoria had 1680 sacks from'the South. These small shipments will soon be sold. The demand is good, both for table and see«l potatoes. There is very little change in the Southern market, if anything the feeling is firmer. It is difficult to obtain quotations from the South for forward shipments, even at advanced rates. Potatoes are worth £8 Onions: The "Wimmpra brought over 609 bags of screened Victorians, which have arrived to quite a bare market, and are selling freely at £8. Oats : There is very little alteration in the Southern market to report. If a concession in freight is obtained, there will be some god shipments of oats exported, which will undoubtedly Hrm the market. This market is fully stocked. The price is 2s 7d. Chaff: The principal business is being done in Melbourne eomprc-sed chaff. Arrivals of local have been light owing to the indifferent weather that we have been experiencing, and Southern shipments have also been rather small, probably due to the same cause. Local chaff is worth £5 15s, Southern £6 ss ; and conipiesscd £5 12s 6d ex store. Fowl Wheat: There is rathsr a better feeling, and the Southern market is inclined to be firmer. Steady business is being done at 3s Bd. Maize: The Auponri brought two shipments from the Coast, consisting of 303 sacks. The market at the present time is not over-stocked, and here is no difficulty in qiittina; ex wharf what is coming to hand. The ex store price is 2s 6d. Bran : Is worth £4 1 os, with gocd business being done. Stocks are only fair. Pollard: There is a difficulty in obtaining sufficient quantities of this to meet requirements The price is £0. •Flour-: Pon them fl air is now £9 ICs f.o.b. Southern ports, an advance ol 103 per tou, and Anstralian fl >ur has also advanced 10s per ton. Fungus : The quantity coming forward is light. Dry parcels are sellinpr at s|d. Fiax: Tho deliveries for 25 days of July are 820 bales, equal to 160 tons. Latest advices from London still 'show a very dull market there Local quotations are nomisally £28 for fine (if procurable), £19 lOsforg.f.a q.. £18 10s forf.a.q, and £16 10s for common.
Tow: The quantity ?ent in for 25 days of July is 1592 bale?, equal to 36 tons; the average price of this is £4 10s to £5 for export purposes.
