KAIMAI

We are pleased to inform our readers of the still further development and settlement of the Kaimai district The Key. W. Baroett has decided to cut up the homestead block of 5000 acres for dairy settlement. Mr Barnett has just retained from a visit to Kaimai, where he has lately had a thoroughly practical man inspecting the block. He reports that by erecting a bridge across the Mangakaroh". gorengo stream, a distance of 15 chains from the main road, an easy graded r ad can be formed for over a mile and a half through the be9t part of the bL ck, which can easily be cut up into suitable sections for dairy purposes. A site has been selected for a dairy factory on the Cambridge Koad. (with water to drive the machinery), and near the main road leading to the Mangatotara block, also the Ongaonga native reserve; The factory will be about four miles from the intended Wairoa wharf and landing plac.e. Mr Baraett has reserved about 50 acres for the factory, school and church, which will include the beautiful Ngaruawahine and Mangahuruhuru waterfalls, which, besides having an^ interest to tourists, may be re - quired some time for electric power for the Tauranga district. As there ia at present grass sufficient for about 200 cows on the land about to be cut up, in addition to the settler* in ibe present snb divisions, all of which are accessible to the factory, we shall expect to see a very large dairy industry exist in the Kaimai in a very short period of time.
