BELLE CROME BELLRINGERS
Vt< Felle Crome Company ftoootn ulis;.ed a .riumph upin the occasion of i heir first performance in Taur n<;a on Friday night. A big reputation preceded the company and great things were expected by tbo audience. These expectations were lealised to the fullest possible extent. The company is, without doubt and exception, the besr that has visited th-fe parts for many years past, t:ne of the big features hting such a variety of first class items. The bellringing by the com pany, the x\loj>hnne and mandolin duels ly iMiss Belle Crome and, Mr Harry Fane, the. vifljin soh.s by N)is3 ' Crome, arid the manipulation of ithe sleigh bells by Miss Ciomo and Mr Fane will long be renr.«mbered as artistic triumphs. Miss ("rcmo is a charming and Hccompli K hed aitist, full <f energy, and whether it is the violin, mandolin, sleigh bell items, or coon singing, it makes no difference to the merit of her performances. Among tie vocalists Miss Maude Jefferson stands out as the star rf the company, a?.d her spleudid aud flexible soprano voice was heard to great advantage in " Fing, Sweet Bird," and in the waltz son? fro ii '-Romeo ami Juliet " Miss Jefferson had one of the best receptions ever accorded to any visiting ar i3t, and as encores gave "Killarney," and "Coming Through the l?ye," uiih fine efft-ct Then there is the humourous fide of the entertainment, in which Mr Will Hughes reigns supreme He is simply great and his comic fongs and patter were mirth provoking in the extreme. The two Arnolds . proved themselves clever jugglers and here again the risible faculties of the audience were extended to the utmost. Mr Crome is a cultured and skilful pianist and his accompaniments to the various musical items were most delicately played. The company will give their farewell entertainment in the Theatre Royal this evening, and will submit a complete cnange of programme. The combination is the finest of the kind that has visited Tauranga for a decade and we can honestly recommend the entertainment to our readers. As accomplished musicians and artists the Belle Crome Bellringers are well worthy of patronage.
