Seven thousand tramwaymen strucl in Philadelphia at an hour's notice „. alleging the unfair dismissal of 70( r comrades. Two hundred and ninetyseven cars were wrecked und mam burned. Woaen participated, and two girls were shot during the rioting. The Kiot Act was enforced and 300 extra police were summoned. New York, Feb. 22. The strike crowd at Philadelphia dynamited several cars and attempted to lynch a driver to a lamp post. Mounted police charged and cut the rope. One man was killed and a hundred inj ured. Six hundred strikers are demanding a sympathetic strike of all labour unions in the city involving 100,000 employees. Hundreds of people are going to business on roller ekates. Both sides declare they will fight to a finish.
