CHILD BURNT TO DEATH.

(Per Pres9 Assocmtior.) Carterton, x Feb 18. There was a fatal fire at Grey town last night, by which a little boy of two years and two months lost bis life. The parents, named Jamns, lived in Humphrey Street and were at a con cert, leaving the house and three children in charge of their daughter, aged nine Through some means the house caught afire. The three chil - dren, all *§irls, endeavoured to save their baby brother, but were overcome with the smoke, and had to leave The brigade was soon on the ecene, but the house being old and very dry, burnt in a few minutes. The charred remains of the child wore recovered from the ruins and removed to the Club Hotel, where an inquest will be held to- day^
