A GERMAN PLAN OF FRUIT STORING.
Anotewor'hy experiment in the storing of apples and pears has heen made by Herr Sterneberg, at Lippstadt, iv Germany. He found that fruit packed away in • •Irr mo^s litter remained good, quite standing the test imposed on it, and that it made no difference whether the fruit was w rapped in tissue paper or no*, the portion paekfd without paper fieing quite anaffected, pitheriutaete or aroma From its fine f re6h appearance the fruit pa eked in the litter seemed capable of beiog kept several months longer than fruit carefully Htored in the upual manner at the -ame time and place. A larg*> barrel waß used forthe experiment, in which litter to the depth of about two or three inches was first laid, the fruit aud litter coming in a .'t*rnate layers afterwards, .. JB"m pnckingaoout 1001 bof fruit, some lUlbof dry litl»r, procured at a very small cost, was found sufficient.
