TRINITY CHURCH CONCERT.

The concert held on the evening of Monday, in the Public Hall, was well attended, and the songs and readings rendered were very enjoyable, while many of the performers snowed considerable talent. Miss Griffiths presided at the piano, and Miss Belle Wrigley played several of the accompaniments. After an interlude by Miss Griffiths, Mr Maxwell sang "Anchored," which was highly applauded. Mr Parker then gave "In Old Madrid," and was encored, giving "The Minstrel Boy "in response. Miss Jones sang " Eileen Allanah," and likewise received an encore. Mr Duncanson gave a recitation from Tennyson, " Money — Property, my Boy," and gavo great amuse ment. Miss Baldock sang " Afterwards," and as an encore "Sweet Alice, Ben Bolt." She received a handsome bouquet. This was Miss Baldock 's first appearance in public, and she is to be congratulated on her success. Mr Tebay sang " Love Star," and was encored. Though suffering from illness, this gentleman preferred to do his best, rather than disappoint the managers* Mrs Clarke, the Mayoress of Tauranga, then came upon the stage and prescribed the prizes won at the Garden Fete, the variety of obeisances made by the various recipients affording much amusement to the critical audience. The Mayoress performed the duties of this function with her accustomed grace; and was received by the audience with plaudits. Mr Maxwell came next with a song, " I laugh at Folly," which, however, was of a grave nature, and was well received, as this popular gentleman always is. Miss Margaret Wrigley sang very sweetly, "Love's Old Sweet Song," and was encored, giving a repetition. Next came Mr Parker with "The Last Cartridge," which was highly appreciated. Miss Ada Darby next gave a recitation, " Eve Bradley's Wedding," a most pathetic tale, which quite held the audience in full attention for twenty minutes and was applauded. Miss Baldock next sang " The Last Farewell," which, however, an appreciative audience would not receive as her last song, as she was oncored, giving "My Mother." Mr Tebay then followed with "Later On," and was likewise applauded. The last item on the programme, "The Maid of the Mill," was rendered with much effect by Miss Jones. The yicar then made a few pertinent fem^rks, thanking those of other denomir nations for their support, and pro? posed a hearty vote of thanks to the Mayoress and the performers. f; God Save the Queen " brought a pleasant evening to a close.
