Tbe Broken Hill strike. Trouble brewing.

Sydney, July 4. — The mineirs at Broken Hill are to be called out immediately. The mines affected will be the Proprietary, British Block No 10, Central, South and North, Junction, and Bound Hill. The smelters and surface men have also decided to strike. The total number of men called out is about 6,000. Later. — The strike of Broken Hill miners as a protest against the mineowners insisting on their determination to stop© ore by contract has begun. Sfdnry, July s.— lntense excitement exists at Broken Hill over the strike and it is believed the struggle will be a bitter one.

The mines are carefully picketed. A. trolly laden with goods for the mine officials was stopped by a gang of men who destroyed the contents. A notice has been posted giving the Managers of the Proprietary and Block 14 mines, twenty four hours to quit the town. Death in quarantine.
