Messrs Chaytor Bros have leased their flaxmill atPa.oa to Mr Wm. Roger?, of Maketu, from the^ord iust. As the quantity of green flax on tja.e Kaituna river, since the disastrous fire in November last, is getting scarce, 3reen competition, ..will ensue between Messrs Bennett and Rogers for the same. The pwamp ro&d between Maketu and Te Puke is really dangerous for traffic it is now impossible for persona on horse back to get through without being bogged once or twice. Buggies etc, are advised to go via. the Junction road.
The Maoris, are catching a considerable quantity hi whitebait, shoals of which are going up the river at present.
