Auckland, Thursday. — Another old Auckland identity died this morning at her residence, Shelly Beach Road, in the person of Mrs Mary Campbell, mother of Hugh and J. P. Campbell solicitors, aged 84s years. Sir George Grey's Australian trip.

Wellington, Thursday. — A public military funeral was accorded to Sir Harry Atkinson to-day, and was very largely attended. r l he Governor sent his carriage and was represented by Captain Hunter Blair. The body was interred at Karori Cemetery. In the House last evening the Premier read a telegram from the Acting Colonial Secretary of New South Wales conveying a message of condolence from his Goverment on the death of Sip H. Atkinson. Mr Ballance said the deceased Statesman, from the services rendered, must by common consent be enrolled in" the front rank. The Premier concluded his remarks by moviDg that v This House desires to place on rec-ird its high sense of the distinguished services rendered to the Colony by the late Sir H. A. Atkinson, and to give his family au assurance of sincere sympathy with them in their trouble and loss." Several other members made a few eulogistic remarks, and the motion was carried unanimously. The Legislative Council adjourned without transacting any business, out of respect to the memory of the late Speaker, after various members had spoken in terms of high praise of the qualities of the deceased.
