BREAKING UP OF THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
The public schools broke tip to-day for the usual Christmas Holidays. At - the Harington Street School a number of hamdsome prizes had been provided through the kind efforts of the head teacher, Mr " Liliington. Two special prizes were also given by Mrs Lillington, one for sewing, and the other for j»r-; serwanoe. » JjLe CJommittee'a uaual pnses were conspicuous by their absence} and the same remark applies to the customary prize presented by. ? Our Menabervf In the absence of Mr ■ Easton, the Chairman of the School Comimitee. His Worship the Mayor, accompanied by Mr J. A. Clark, one of the attended to distribute the prizes. MrLundon addressed the chilaren in a few kind and appropriate remarks, and specially alluded to the neat appearance and behaviour of the Scholars. The prizes were then distributed as follows. —
