Mondaj'. The militia returns show over 7000 Otago fmen available. Of these Dunedin and suburbs supply 2,364, Port Chalmors 280, Taieri 430, Oamaru 727.
India is at tho present time well garrisoned with British troops, there being eight cavalry regiments, and cloße on fifty regiment of infantry. On the average each cavalry regiment numbers over soo men, and infantry about 800 men. Of artillory and engineers there is also a very large force,
