PAVILION BATHS AT OHINEMUTU.

The Pavilion Baths were opened on the Ist January, and the following is a return up to the 3 1st May of the visitors to the springs, who have made use of these baths : — 18.84. Ladies. Gentlemen. January .. 21 .. .. 223 February .. 63 „ .. 313 Maroh „ 86 „ .. 183 April .. .. 25 .. .. 106 May „ ,» 25 4 » »* . 75. „ . ... i9o~ m Making 1 a total of 1,092 visitors. These, according to the visitors' book, show that, during 1 the same period as above mentioned, baths were applied for and obtained to the following extent ; and the amount paid for each, month is shown in the figure column :— Total number of baths. January . . .'. 410 Eebruary . . * . . 476 March .. .. 504 April .. .. 311 May .. .. 171 Total .. „ 1872 Amount paid for the uso of the above. £ a d. January „ „ 10 6 0 February ■. k ,» 1118 0 Maittlt .; ;i 25 4 0 April .. .. 15 11 0 May .. .. 8 11 0 Total .. £71 9 0 3?rom the month of March; the price charged for a bath is risen to lsj as against 6d, which was the former charge. The Government are erecting two new baths, as is it considered that, as soon as the hosiptal is opened for patients, the present provision and appliances will be quite inadequate to the demands. Certain improvements in the Pavilion, are highly neoossary and desirable. The ladies' waiting-room should bo enlarged ; and if a bay-window waa projected on the eastern side it would very materially add to the stze and confort of the room, and be a great convenience. A few more sofas are required for the bathers, and a table and desk in the passage for the visitors use, in entering their names in the book, would be better than the present arrangement. These matters are in themselves but trifling details, but they go far to minister to the general comfort of those who frequent the bathing establishment. Wo commend the consideration of these remarks to the officials in charge. ■
