TAURANGA DISTRICT SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Committee was held on Tuesday J afternoon, at 4.30, in the Secretary's office, Spring street. Present — Messrs 0. A. Clarke (Chairman), Henry, J\ Wrigley, B. Lundon, and J. A. Clark. Messrs H. S. Brabant and *T. Yercoe were in attendance, as a deputation, j re application by residents for a school at Ofcumoetai. The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read and approved. The following letter was received from the Auckland Board of Education) dated 3rd March) 1884 i — SLr>-— I ant directed td ackrid\Vlege the receipt; of ydiir letter^ dated 22rid ultimo, applying 1 fdr a grant of £6 8s 6d td cover the oustanding liabilities o.f last year's Committee, and-, iii r'epy, to inform you that the Board grants that sum in addition to the usual school fund grant. — I am, &0., V. E. Rice. The Secretary Tauranga School Committee. It was resolved that MrW. C. Stewart be written to, accepting his offer of a flint lock musket to be preserved in the school) and thanking hinii Mr Mabefly presented the' school returns, which were approved and signed. The Committee, re Otumoetai school, brought up their report, recommending that the Otumoetai district be appointed an educational district, boundaries being as follows : — All the portion of the parish of Te Papa, I lying west of the Kopurererua River ; also that it should embrace the parishes of Te Puna and Te Apatal It $-as res'oived that the report as read be adopted. Sundry small accounts were passed for payment, amounting to £1 4s 6d. It was resolved that the application by Mr Maberly, for necessary works to be done at the school, be referred to a sub-committee, consisting of the Chairman and Mr Lundon, with power to act. It was resolved that the Chairman and Mr Wrigley be deputed to interview Captain Morris, M.H.R., re the local bill for proposed school site. This concluded the business.
