The Bay' °f Plenty cricketers played against iin Eleven of the Auckland United, th.c Laokhams and others being absent. The -weather was slightly sbowery, b.ut was good for the wicket. All the Tau.tanga men had invested in lawn tennis hats, which, gave them a professional a .ppearance. The United went in first, i *nd were all out for 123. The Tauranga men commended their innings at 2.30, and at 3 o'clock had one wicket down for 13. Their bowling was rather t rild, there being nine wides. Robertson, one of the Tauranga men, sustain ted a nasty, but not serious, cut on the chin while wicketkeeping, the ball glancing off the bails and striking him. The scores up till 3 o'clock, when I left the field, were : —
