OTAGO CENTRAL ELECTORATE.

HOW IT HAS BEEN ABSORBED. As the elections approach interest in our "new boundaries" becomes keener. The following description of how Otago Central electorate has been sub-divid-ed has been supplied to the Mt. Ida Chronicle by Mr J. A. Norrie, registrar of Electors: —

Waitaki. "Waitaki Electorate now includes tlio whole of the Idaburn, Gimmerburn, Mt. Ida and Kyeburn Ridings, and portion of the Hyde Riding of Maniototo County. The boundary line runs from Mt. Ida range down the north western boundary of the Idaburn Riding to Vincent County and along the southern boundaries of the said Idaburn, G-inimer-burn, Mt. Ida and Kyeburn Ridings, and -follows the Taieri River to the bouudary of the Waihemo County at a point Avliere the Horsoburn enters the Taieri, and then follows the Horseburn and then the "Waihemo County boundary to Ivakanui Peak ; and from that point along the Kakanui and Mt. Ida Ranges to its starting point. Waimate is the headquarters of the electorate.

Wakatipu.

All that portion of the OJago Central district lying west'of a line drawn from Mt. St. Bathans'along the top of the range to the North-west boundary of Idaburn Biding, thence following the western boundary of the said Idaburn Hiding and along the southcm boundaries of the Idaburn; Giminerbiirn, -Mt. Ida and Kyeburu Ridings, and following the Taieii River to a point in line with the IST.E. boundary of Lot 122, Middlcmarch, block IX., Strath Taieri District; thence running north-west to the boundary of section 7 of the said block IX.; thence running southerly, taking in Clarks and Lee Stream, and then westerly to the Clutha Electoral District and running along the northern boundary to the said Clutha Electorate to the summit of the AVhitccooinb Kange at Whitecoomb.

Bruce. Bruce takes in all the southern end of the old Otago Central Electorate with the exception of the Outram Town District. This electorate now extends up the Otago Central railway to a point below Middlemarck, and is bounded on the West and east by the Wakatipu and Chalmers .boundaries respectively. The boundary circles Middlemarch. and extends north along the Taieri : River to a point opposite Koclc and Pillar ; . thence running south-east-erly, by the Chalmers boundary right past Outram, and then following the Taieri River to its mouth'. Clutha.

All the portion below a line drawn from the boundary of the Bruce Electorate where it touches the Clutha River, running north-west to the southeastern comer of blk. XIII, Crookston; thence by the eastern boundary of the said block XIII. to and along the road forming the southern boundaries of sections 16 and 17,' block XVII. to the eastern boundary of the said block XVII., at the south-eastern comer of the said block XVII.; thence by the eastern and northern boundaries of block XVII. to. the nortliorn boundary of blocks IX. and VIII., Crookston, to the eastern boundary of the Crookston Riding; tKonce. -by tho eastern. and north-eastorn boundaries of the riding to the Wakatipu Electoral District.

Chalmers. < The new Chalmers district includes the Town District of Outram, at the lower end of the old Otago Central Electorate, and also that part of the district extending east towards Macraes from a line drawn from Kakanui Peak to the Horsebura and following the Horseburn to its junction with the Taieri River, and extending- along the Taieri River, toi a poinc opposite Rock. and Pillar j tlieixee south-easterly to a point named Smooth Cone. .
