Milton Bowling Club.

41st ANNUAL MEETING. _ The annual meeting was held in the Coronation Hall on Tuesday evening. ™ r W, Moore (President) oooupied the °kflir, there being 18 members present Annual Report. Tho committee presented its annual report as follows: Your Committee has to report that the 1918-19 season was opened on the sth of October, 1918. The weather was favourable and the opening was enlivened by the presence of two rinks from the Bilolutha Club and one rink from the Waitahuna Club. The usual matoh, President v. VicePresident was played and won by the President. Tho Club was represented at the opening of the Baldutha green, but regret that owing to all cars being engaged, representatives could not be sent to Waitahuna opening. From a playing point of view the season was one of the worst experienced for some years; except for a few weeks in January and February, when the days were shortening the weather conditions were generally unfavourable, and at no time during the season was the green at its best.

The usual Club competitions were held with the results that, in the President's Handicap final Mr W. Hamilton (3 points) beat Mr McGuire (scratch); in the Championship final Mr McGuire beat Mr J. Wyber, Mr McGuire winning on his last bowl; while the Doubles, which were played in one, went to I Messrs Haig and Wbitson. Some dcz<jn members organised a consolation handicap, which was won by Mr Haig. Only six gameß were played in the Ferns' rink competition, the holders being Messrs Hubble, Henson, Adam and Hoilick (skip). It is somewhat to be regretted that more games were not played out in the Doubles' competition, which is of a more sociable nature than Singles and the play more diversified, and allowing for the short season, many more games oould have been played by the players making arrangements to meet at a given time. No club matches were played, the uncertain weather conditions being mainly responsible for thh unusual omission, Messrs Wyber, Brecki and Martin, with an Invercargill player, competed in the rinks at Gore Easter Tournament, reaching to the final in their sestion, which they lost. At the request of the Dominion Bowling Association a number of tickets in the Trentham Dominion Art Union in aid of the education of soldiers' children, were disposed ef by Messrs Haig, Moyes, Moroney and the Secretary, the total amounting to £l9 16i. Your committee desire to thank Mr Stevenson and bis representative for screening the adver tisement of the Art Union. will be seen from the Balance-sheet that' although the amount of funds handled is sma ! l as compared, say, with the average of 15 years back the Club is on tho right Bide of the ledger for the season. The balance in hand is £8 19d 5d ; balance for the season £6 53 101. An increased membership is still strongly to be desired, and it is hoped that individual members will use their influence to attain this end. Your Committee appreciate the Press notices of Bowling events and the attendance of ladies on opening day,

Tho meeting then went into harmony and the prizes w-re presented by the President. Championship prize, donated by Sir James Allen (silver mounted salad bowl, suitably inscribed), Mr McGuire. President's Handicap, (tasteful gold medal, inscribed), Mr W Hamilton, Doubles, (case of safety razors), to Mr Haig; to Mr Whitson (hearth rug). Consolation Handicap, (lady's reticule) to Mr Haig. During the subsequent proceedings certain proposals were put forward by the President for the betterment of the Club and taken up enthusiastically by the meeting. It is anticipated that these proposals will bear fruio during the ensuing season and that tho Club will regain somo'tbiog of its former status. Daring the evening cordial votes of thanks were tendered to the President, Vice-President, the retiring Secretary, and the Press.

The following are the officials for next vear; -President, Mr Moore (re-elected); Vice-President, Mr Moroney (reieleoted); Committee, President, Vice-President, Messrs Hollick, Henson, Haig, Bain, McGuire;.
