THE GERMAN PAPER SHORTAGE.

Tho German Presa Bureau has issued a list showing that of 3500 newspapers existing before the war 562 have disappeared. The largest circulation is 270,000 and the smallest 150. Half the oxisting papers describe themselves as belonging to no party, but the 'Frankfort Gazette' says that the Pan-German agitation has been very largely prosecuted by these so-called non-party papers. A decree issued by the German Chancellor prohibits the exhibition for sale of all German newspapers. They may be supplied only to persons who subscribe for at least a month. Those which infringe these regulations will be liable to a fine of £BOO, and their proprietors will be liable in addition to prison for six months.—Wireless Press.
