Milton Bowling Club.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of members of above club was held on the stage of the Coronation Hall on Tuesday evening, when there were 30 members present. xMr W. Moore (president) occupied the chair.' REPORT AND BALANCE-SHEET. The annual report (as published in last issue) was taken as read. The secretary then read the detailed balance sheet, totals of which have been published. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the Chairman said he thought they could safely say that the past year had been a record year. There had been a lot of work done, and it was nearly all paid for, but judging from the balance sheet they were near the end of their credit, and unless someone came to the rescue they would be at a dead level. Members had had a good season and plenty of amusement, for which they should be thankful, but they would require to be patient during the incoming season consequent on the repairs to the greens The secretary purposed initiating a working bee every available Saturday, by which efforts it was anticipated they would get preliminary work done, and thus save some wages. The motion was seconded by Mr Breck, and agreed to. Appointment of Life Members. Mr F. Bastings (Dunedin) forwarded his resignation as a member of the Club. —The resignation was accepted with regret, and it was make Mr Bastings a life member of the club, in recognition of his long and valued services. A similar honor was conferred on Messrs (Milburn) and Robt. Murray (Clarksville). Office-bearers. The retiring president nominated Mr John Breck for the position of president, and remarked that Mr Breck had been vice-president for two years, and had never had a proper chance to show his ability. In electing Mr Breck they would have a real live man as president.—Mr C. Grey seconded the motion, and referred fn complimentary terms to Mr Breck's services in connection with the improvements to the green.—Mr Breck took the chair amid applause, and briefly thanked members for the honor conferred. Other office-bearers elected were: — Vice presidents —Messrs A Carr and Jas. Haig; secretary, Mr T. G. Henderson (re-elected), general committee Messrs W. Moore, C. Grey, W. Taylor and R. Robertson; selector for matches, Mr C. Grey; green supervisor, Mr T. G. Henderson; social committee —Messrs J, Parlane, R. Robertson, A. Stewart and J. Breck; handicappers —Messrs W. Murray and A. Robertson, and A. Stewart to the excellent manner in which Mr T. G. Henderson had carried out the arduous duties of secretary during the past season, the general consensus of opinion being that he is the right man in the right place.

SOCIAL FUNCTION. The business part being concluded the members settled themselves to enjoy a social hour o: two, on the invitation of the retiring president, who remarked that he desired to break the precedent established two years ago of giving a dance on retiring Irom office. Alter the usual loyal toast had been duly honored, the following toastlist was proceeded with, the speeches being brief and to the point, bowling matters naturally predominating:— " New Zealand Bowling Association," proposed by* Mr A. Carr, responded to by Mr W. Moore; " South Otago Centre," proposed by Mr Haig, responded to by -Mr Moore; " Retiring President," proposed by Mr Breck; "Retiring Vice-presidents," proposed by Mr J.
