Wednesday, September 6. Fat Cattle— The yards were full this week, 257 head being forward. Trade wa3 fairly good, bat as tie number yarctad excelled the batcher's requiremente, prices all round were from 10* to 20a per head beiow last week's quotations. Best bull< oks brought from £8 to £8 17a 6d ; gocd, £6 10j to £7 15s ; light, £5 to £8 ; prime £6 to Jt7 2s 6J . good, £4 10j to £5 15a ; light, i' 3to £4 5s Fat Sheep — The Bupp'y waa au exoe.sßive one, 3272 b^'Dg penned, inoludit-g 450 merinoa. Piioje ordinary weights for freezing and good batchers' sheep maintained last week's values. Values raiaged as follows : — Prime crossbred wetherß (heavy), 16b 9d to 17d 3d ; prime do (freozers), 15a 6d to 16a 6d ; ordinary do, 14a to 15a ; light do, 12a 6d to 13s 9 1 ; prime crossbred ewes, 13d 6d to 143 ; ordinary do, 12a 0d to 14s; light do 11s to 12a; prime merino wethers, 12a to 13i 6d ; medium, 9* to 11b. Pigs— Were in short supply, only 69 being penned, most of tbeui baoonera. Porkers, stores, and suckers continue in great demand, and fully maintain recent valuer. Tais week's range of values wa.B as follows :— Heavy -weight bacon pigs, 51a to 60s ; ordinary, 40a to 48^ ; porkvrs, 30d to 37a ; stores, 23a to 28j ; slips, 18j to 22s ; saokera 10a to 15s. Rabbitskina— Fair-sized catalogue* were put forward for Monday's sale, but bidding was anything but: brisk, and prioes for tbe better sorts declined l^i p-r lb.aud for the lower sortß Id per ib. Prime winters are to-day worth 16a to 17d. SheepskinB — There was a full attendance of the trade at Tuesday's sale, and bidding was moat animated, especially for finewoolled akina, which in sorae o^ses realised up to the equivalent of 7 Jd per lb. Hides— The demand for all sorts continues to be most keen. Quotations : Heavy well-flayed ox 4d to 4|d, medium to good do 3d to 353, light 2^i to 3d, damaged and oat l£d to 2d per *b.. Tallow—Prioea remain firm, a.ad there fa good inquiry for all description. , especially the better kind. Grain: Wheat— There ia a fairly good demand fop all prime linea at reoent rates. mand. Deliveries have been below requiremontß, and trade which would have otherwise have come to Dunedm baa got 8 elsewhere. Quotations : Prime Tuscan and velvet 2a s£d to 2a 6£rt, medium do 2a 3£d to 2a sd, ohiok wheao la lOd to 2a por bushel (ex track, sacks in, terms). Oats— Mark-jt shows no obafiga. There i 3 gooi demand for shipment to the Lnited Kiugdom, bat the grade required ia in abort supply, and consequently business is limited. Quotations are : Prime feed Is 3^d to Is 4d, tair to medium la 2£i to la 3d, inferior Is to la 2d per bushel (sacks extra, ne'e). Barley —The markes continues lifelesß ; the ocly sales being transacted are in really prime quality malting. Qaotations are : Prime malting 2i 7d to 3s, medium 2s Id to 2i sd, feed und milling Is 6d to 1b 9d per bushel (sacks extra, nee). Chaii — Supplies are fully equal to the demand. For really prime samples there is good inquiry. Quotations : Prime oaten sheaf £2 5a to £2 7a 6d, medium to good £2 to £2 2a 6d per ton (bags extra, net). Potatoes — For prime aorta there is fair demand, at from 27a 6d to 30a par ton (bags in, net), other qualities are alnaoat entirely neglected.
