COUNTRY SALES.
Dalgety and Co. Ltd., report having held a clearing sale at Balclutha on Thursday, the 19th inst., on aoconnt of Mr John JSarvie. There was a fair attendanoo of buyers, and with the exoepiion of dairy oowb, which were far off oalving and wer c consequently in poor demand, everything Bold at good prices. Draught horses fonr years old brought £29 10a, aged do £15 to £20, two year old do £25 sb, yearling do £15, unbroken light horses L 9 ; implements, 60 ,at good values. On Friday, the 20th, they also held a special sale of crossbred wethers, when they sold 1200 at the following rates : — Two-tooth Beven-eighthbred Romney wethers, 12s ; two-tooth oroeebred wethers and ewes, 9j lOd ; lamb, 7«. TheN.Z.L. and M.A. Co. (Ltd.), report having held their usual fortnightly Bale at Clinton on Tburaday, 19th it at., when they had a large entry of sheep. Competition was by no means brisk, except for first lamba, and forward-conditioned wethers, although they managed to quit 2300 at the following prices : — First-class wethers, lie ; medium wethers, 7s 6d ; first-class lambs, 61 7d ; medium lambs, 5i 6d ; fat ewes, 11s ; store ewes, sb. They have inquiries for good lambs and forward-condition wethers.
