Bowling

Although the weather waa anything but good, there wbb a large muster of members on the local bowling green on Tuesday last (Qaeen'a Birthday), tho closing day for the season. As might be expected the green was very soft, but the caretaker (Mr Charters), had spared no paina in ita preparation, and come very enjoyable games oame off. The 6etni-tinal for the vice-president's prfz3, between Mesars Mahoney and Gh-eyi resulted in the latter coming off best. He then met Mr W. Taylor for the final, which the latter gentleman, who was in excellent form, won easily. After the draws had been played off, aides were picked by the two vice-preaideuta (Messrs T. Allchin and J. Parlane), and a good game reoultod ia a win for T. Allohin by 15pts. After retiring from the green, a desultory argument was entered into as to ways and means for a water supply. Several suggestions were considered, and it was deoided by those present that it would be advisable for the committee to formulate a scheme of finance at the next annual meeting, to be placed before tho members tor their consideration. This matter of a water supply should be heartily entered into by all the members, and no doubt, if all work together, some tangible scheme can be arrived at, and the Milton green be second to none in the colony. The following are the prizs-takers for the season : — Messrs Jno. Nelson, gold medal, presented by Mr Ross, of Messrs Sargood, Son and Ewen, Dunedin, and H. Moorhouse, set silver-mounted bow.'a, presented by members of the club ; W. Moore, trophy, presented by Messrs Thomson, Bridger and 00. ; C. Grey, trophy, presented by the 1 president, Mr F. M'Leod, aod a walkingstick presented by Mr J. Parlane, vice- ) president; W. Taylor, upholstered wicker chair, presented by Mr T. Allohin, vicepresident.
