DUNEDIN STOCK REPORT

Following is report of business done at Burnhide Yards on Wednesday : —

Fat Cattle. — 183 were yarded, nearly all useful aud prime beef, but mostly all light weights, Competition was slack, and prices as unsatisfactory as ever. ladeed, we have never before seen fat cattle ruling so low at Buruside. Bullocks sold at £3 7s Gd to £7 12a 6d, for extra heavy ; and prime cows, £2 2i 6d to i's 12a fid.

Fit Shacip. — Th".re was a large supply today, consisting of 899 merino wethers of prime qua'ity, and 2290 crossbreds, ranging from medium to prime ; the bulk were however, ewes. Bidding was rather quieter, and prices suffered a fall of 6d to Is below last week's ruling prices . Crossbred wethera sul.l ;it ~6 to 8s 9d ; crossbred ewes, 5s 6d to 9i 9.1, for a line of very heavy tlireequarterbre Is ; merino wethers, at 4s to 5s G I for prime.

Fat Lambs. — There was a short supply in to-day, 392 being yarded. Prices all round advanced Is to Is 6d over those ruling at last week's sale, best fetching 7s to S3 ; others 5s to 6s 9.1.

Pigs. — 292 yarded, nearly all suckers and stores, for which there was brisk bidding at advanced valuep. Bacon pigs, at from 39s 50s ; porkers, at from 30a to 36s ; and halfgrown stores, at from 17s to 32s 6d.

Sheepskins. — Green crossbreds sold at Is 6d to 2s 6'd ; dry do, Is to 5s 3d ; green merino, Is to la 6d ; dry do, Is Id to 4s Sd ; green lambs, 1b 10d to 2s 9d ; skins in bales, 4i too^d per lb.

Hides. — Both shippers and local manufacturers are anxious to secure all sorts, and as the market is bare prices have shown a little improvement, green hides making 12i to 243 each ; dry salted, will cleaned parcels, 3d to 4^d per lb.

Tallow. — We quote prime rendered mutton 16s to 18? ; medium, 14s to 153 lOd ; inferior, 123 to 133 per cwt. Rough fat — mutton, 11s to 133 ; beef, 10s to lls 6d ; mixed, Ss to 103 ; inferior, 6a to 7s 6d per cwt.
