GRAIN AND SEED REPORT.

Measra Samuel Orr and Co., Stafford street, report for the week ended March 7, as follows: — Wheat. — The market for this continues quiet, there being still an indisposition on the part of the millers to purchase beyond actual necessity. Samples of the new crop are coming to hand pretty freely, but sales are principally on a limited scale, and likely to be until thjp \ftdk come 3to band. Prices

are not yet definitely fixed, but in the meantime we quote from actual sales : Prime milling, 3s 5i to 3s 61 ; ordinary, 3s 3d to 33 41 ; fowls' feed, 2a 6d to 2< lOd, but cannot be relied upon. Samples from the North coining down very freely. Oats. — The new crop ia in i-\ir demand, principally for milling, bub only a limited supply has yet come to hand. Owing to the absence of orders for shipment cooaequent upon unfavorable reports received from the other side, prices have not yet found any improvement. We quote : Prime milling, la B£d to Is 9d, though for extra quality a little more might be got ; bright feed, Is 8d to la Bsd ; medium, Is 7d to Is 7£d. Barley.— Only a limited snpuly offering yet with a good demand. Quotations, 3s 8d to 3s 9J for prime malting ; 3a 31 to 3s 6d for medium. Potatoes. — The market is overstocked, large supplies having come in from the North ; ruling prices, £2 7s 61 to £2 15s. Chaff. — Supplies of new cut coming forward freely within the last few days, the quality being very good. In fair demand at from £2 10* to £2 17s 6J. Grass Seed : — There is nothing new to report sincj last week, liyegraas : Supplies are now coming to hand, but the demand is slow indeed, and farmers' samples are difficult to place at from 2j to 2s 6d according to quality. Cocksfoot : A little business doing for autumn sowing, while for shipment there is also a spurt, and prices may be said to be here 4£i to sd.
