Stewart's expedition to the Terraces has reached the head of the Green Lake. 4.10 p.m. Mr Fairbrother has just ridden in In breathless haste. Tarawera is roaring, and showing symptoms of another eruption, which, if it occurs, would drive every settler out of the district. Rotorua, June 13. At nine o'clock thia morning everything was much calmer. Mr Percy Smith, Assistant Surveyor-General, haa just started with* an expedition for the Terraces, and a boat party has also gone. Dr Ginders reports increased volume, and that the temperature of the springs to-day ia 105deg, while yesterday it waa 98deg. At ten o'clock the volcano was increasing in activity. The wind has changed slightly, and is now blowing the smoke towards Rotorua. Mr Burt ia positive thafc the Terraces have been destroyed, and that the whole locality is now in a state of eruption. There was a alight shock of earthquake at eleven o'clock thia morning, and during divine service at the Maori chapel a geyser broke out, the steam from which came up among the congregation.
