PLOUGHING- MATCH.

A meeting of ploughmen interested in the promotion of a ploughing match this season was held in the Council Chambers on Saturday evening. Present — Messrs A. Fraser (in the chair), W. Hewitson, Cannon, A. M'Callum, Colman, R. Robinson, R. Murray, jun., R. Martin, J. Millar, D. Tweedie, H. Murray, jun., J. B. Chalmers, R. Murray, and W. Aitcheson. Had not the weather been very unfavorable, many more would, it waa expected, have been present. It was resolved unanimously, on the motion of Mr R. Robinson, seconded by Mr A. M'Calluni, " That a ploughing match be held." It was resolved that the match be carried out acoording to the rules of the Tokomairiro Farmers' Club. That all ploughmen be Snished and off their lots by the time the bell rings. Moved by Mr R. Robinson, seconded by Mr R. Murray, and carried, •' That only first priz^-takers be excluded in Class B, and that all prize-takers in Class A be excluded from ploughing in Class B." It was resolved, on the motion of Mr R. Murray, seconded by Mr R. Martin, " That there be two classes in double-furrows, classes D and E, and that all first and second prize-takers in class D be excluded from ploughing in Class E." It was resolved that a Junior Class be held as usual, assistance to be given to juniors for the first two rounds. It was moved by Mr R. Murray, seconded by Mr J. Millar, and resolved, "That all ploughmen make their own feerings in Class D, and that Class E be allowed to get a man to feer for them if they wished, but if done, to be excluded from competing in Class D." It was agreed that the foregoing resolutions be submitted to the Tokomairiro Farmers' Club, with a request that tbey will carry them out. In the event of the Club not seeing their way to hold the usual ploughing match, the meeting decided to undertake it themselves. The meeting adjourned.
