Best bullocks brought £7 10s to £9 10s ; ordinary, £5 to £7 ; best cows, £5 17s 61 to £7 17s 6i; light and medium, £3 10a to £5 10a. Fat Sheep.—There was a full supply forward to-day, 3114 being penned. Of these 444 were merinos in low condition, but the crossbreds on the average were in fair to prime order. Prices for best were about the same as last week, a few pens showing a small improvement. Merinoß were dull of sale, realising low prices. Pig B>—7B were penned, the most of them were porkers and bacon pigs, wifch a few suckers. The latter were only in feeble demand, bufc the former were in rather better request, and prices slightly higher.— Wright, Stephenson, and Co. sold the lot as follows :—4B grain fed bacon pigs at from 24s to 40s, 24 porkers at from 16s 6d to 21s 6d, and 6 slips at ss. Store catfcle and sheep are only in limited demand, very little business being done in either class. ■Wool.—The R.M.S. Kaikoura brought priced catalogues of the second series of London sales from March 25th to April Bth. A careful inspection of these fully confirms the unfavourable advices previously received by telegraph. During the last week private telegrams came to hand reporting the market firmer and large transactions taking place. Demand chiefly for France. Locally there is nothing doing. Sheepskins.—Monday being a holiday the sales were held on Tuesday, when very good catalogues were offered, chiefly butchers' green skins. The trade was well represented, and competition animated, prices realised beir.q fully 3d above last week's rates. Country dry crossbred skins brought; 9d to 3s 2d ; do do merino, Id to 3s 2d ; green crossbreds, ls lOd to 2i 9J ; do merino, ls 4d to ls 101; lambskins, 2s 2d to 2s 61. Hides.—A good demand exists and all lots coming to hand in good condition are easily placed, but rates are slightly easier, piesent values being for light, 3d to 3£d; medium to fair average weights 3_i to3£d ; extra heavy in faultless condition, 4 1 to 4^ 1 per lb. Tallow. —A moderate amount of busiuess is being transacted chiefly for local requirements, but there is no improvement in prices and none can be looked for while fche present dullness prevails at Home.
