COMMISSIONS ON SALES.
■ i • A resolution wad passed at a meeting of the Committee of the Tokomairiro Farmers' Club last week that information be sought from the Chamber of Commerce relative to the recognised rules and rates of commission. The following, which appears in the rules under the heading " Scale of Mercantile Charges," should supply the information sought. The quotations are the maximum oharges, but very frequsntly speoial agreements are made between owner and agent fixing the rate for commission. In the absence of such an agreement, an agent would probably insist on commission as below and plead " custom of trade " : — BALES AND PURCHASES. Per cent. On sale of merchandise and produce 5 Horses 5 „ Stock 3| „ Land— under £250 5 Land — under £1000, on first £2505 per cent., and on balance ... ... 2£ „ Land—over £1000, on first £250 5 per cent. ; on next £750, 2$ per cent., and. on balance ... ... ... 1& COMMISSION FOB GENERAL AGENCY.
