CHRISTCHURCH COLIN EXCHANGE.

Report for the week ending Friday, May 14 :— The weather during the past week has I been all tbat could be desired for ploughing oparations, and the inquiry for seed wheat points to a likely iocreaße of acreage for the coming season, there being already a good demand for it. The deliveries from the country districts are becoming gradually less, especially in the case of wheat, which has given it a hardening tendency. Tuscan is now worth 3a 6i ; Hunter's, at 3s 41, and Pearl, at 33 6d, are also firm. Those who have already stored wonld not care to deal except at an advance on these rates. Oats are hardeuing, and prices have slightly advanced — milliug to 2a Id ; short feed, 2^ to 2s O^d; long kinds, Is lOd to Is lid. Barley has buyers for extra prime malting at 3s 3d to 3i 4d, and feeding lines at 2i 21 to 2s 4i ; but medium malting is without inquiry, at 2s 91 to 3j. Beans and pease have a fair trade demand, at for tho former 2s lOd to 2s lid, and for the latter— feed, 3b

to 3a 3d ; blue?, 3s 9i to 43. Ryegrass aDd Cocksfoot are without alteration in prices, aad business is very dull. Potatoes have a weaker tendency, buyers not caring to operate at 403 at country stations, while I growers are firm in their demand for that figure ; consequently business has had few transactions to record. Dairy produce is quiet at last week's quotations, except extra prime butter, which would command Is. Quotations are f.o.b. Lyttelton.
