WESLEYAN CONFERENCE.
■—+ The business of the Conference on Thursday was chiefly of a routine character. The station- sheet of the New Zealand circuits was read a first time. At the meeting or. Friday, the application of the Rev. Jas. Thomas, of the Victorian and Tasmania Conference, for admission to the New Zealand Wesleyan Church was agreed to. The Revs. J. Ward, and C. E. Barley, late of the Primitive Methodist Church, were admitted as ministers, npon the understanding that for four years, financially, they occupy the positions of probationers. Obituary notices of the following ministers who had died during the year were read :— Revs. P. Wills, James Buller, and Wiremu Patene. It was resolved that a telegram be forwarded to Mr R. T. Booth, temperance advocate, welcoming him to the Colony, and expressing sympathy with him in his work. On Saturday, Messrs Fellows (Dunedin), and Burrows (Kaiapoi) were received as students for the ministry, to be entered for training at Wesley College, Auckland. Permission was giren to the Rev. W. J. Watkin to rest for one year ; and the Rev, W. Kirk, who stated that he had travelled in full work for 39 years, and during that time had only been prevented from doing duty for two Sundays, was granted permission to retire from active work. It was also resolved that a suitable record be prepared of Mr Kirk's efficient labours for so long a period, and of the high estimation in which he is held by the brethren and churches throughout tho Colony. The Rev. Dr Kelyuack wrote asking for men for the missions in Samoa and Fiji, but the Conference decided that there were none available.
