PARTRIDGES.
(&>tU Editor of the Bruce Herald.) SiE,~ln your "locals" of to-day's issue, notice is taken of a covey of partridges having taken possession of Mr ; Twiss' garden' at s North Branch, "and refuse all effort^ to oust them from their somewhat unusual quarters." Now, I do not think there Is anything strange in this case, as a covey of about twelve partridges took up their quarters there in the months of March, April, and May, 1873, before the place came into Mr Twiss' possession, and instead of driving them off,l was careful not to disturb them, or to tell of their being there, so as no one might disturb them; and this season's visitors are likely to be some of that covey and their progeny, as no doubt their instinct brought tnem back to where they got feed undisturbed.
I am, &c, Milton, Oct. 16, 1874. W. Chapman,
