The Spoons Found. — Ie may be recollected tlia.*. Governor Bowen gave a dinner not very long since to the Spe.ker and memburs of House of HepresentativiS, and that after the dinner some silver spoon's were missing, amounting in number to the number of guests. This looked " rather rinh," as they say, and base insinuations and suspicions got abroad. What the Governor 'thought, we don't know, but perhaps he may have come to the determination on a future occasion to *ake the precaution of having the spoons chained to the table, as they say is done with the knives and forks in. some of the London eating-houses frequented by the light-fingered gentry. Now, it will be highly satisfactory to the cotintry to know that the little cloud which hung for a .short time over the characters of our representatives has blown away, and that, though some of our members are not remarkable, it is said, for political purity, their personal honesty is as yet tinimpeached— that though they handle the public cash in a somewhat unsatisfactory .manner,., they have not as yet descended to the indignity Of petty larcniy, and ,did not make away with the Governor's plate after all. The.spdohs have been, found in an old duster. . ...... -.^ .-..-. . ; The Goon Timb Coding. —Some man, writing to. the ' Beehive,' an English paper, says that he is prepared to "go before any audience in. the world,/ and to prove", and demonstrato a new and practical plan by ■whicli- the' poor can be* made rich without inaking. the rich poor.
