(From our own correspondent.)
On Wednesday night week Mr G. F. C. Brownp addressed a meeting of his constituents in the Assembly Rsoms, Waitahuna. His conduct in regard to the various matters dealt with in the Council elicited the hearty approval of his audience.
The Waitahuna Dramatic Corps are hard at work practising for an entertainment to be given shortly for the Benevolent Institution. Something unprecedented^ grand is promised and expected. A petition in favor of our present education scheme, and another against it, are being signed in Waitahuna. Cogllill and p;>ny are advertising for tenders to cut a race flight miles long to their claim on the Big Hill, Waitahuna. Their claim is the only one now on the hill, the others having long since been abandoned.
The tributers of the Canada Quartz Reef have finally abandoned the reel, hut it is rumored that a party has obtained 8 ounces to the ton on the same line of reef, but at some distance from the claim of the Canada Company.
