The whole male population of Bul.uwivyo .met and protested against the Governor-General reprieving a native sentenced to (death for- assaulting a white woma'n. One speaker pointed out that if Lord Gladstone assumed tiho conditions in -South Africa, were the same as in England, lie must be brought to a proper appreciation of the facts, otherwise the whites would take the la.w into their own hands.
