Press Assn—By telegraph—Copyright (Received January 25, 9.35 a.m.; LONDON, January 24. The Pall Mall Gazette publishes a statement that the late King Leopold of Belgium, was so exasperated and alarmed at the humanitarian agitation concerning the Congo that he appealed to Germany for protection, and agreed to an invasion of France through Belgium. This plan, after the death, of Leopold, fell into hands which communicated it to France. The correspondent declares that experienced chiefs of diplomatic services of the continent believe the rumor to be true.
