Nathan, District Road Engineer, who has been visiting Dannevirke on business, left for his home at Pahiatua this morning. _ • A number of Woodville residents met Rifleman Halliday, the rifle champion, in Wellington and congratulated him on his second victory. Halliday is an ex-resident of Woodville.

Mr John M'Gregor, for the. past four ■ years woolbuyer for the Napier mills," has been appointed instructor in wool-classing to the Wangamii Education Board. Mr M'Gregor is a native of Mosgiel, Otago, and has had considerable experience with the Mosgiel and Oamaru Woollen Companies. Mr C. H. Poole, M.P. for Auckland West, was married to Miss Pacey on Tuesday afternoon at St. John's Methodist Church, Ponsonby-road, Auckland. There was a large gathering at the cei-emony. The Rev. G. Bond officiated, assisted by the Rev. James. Wilson, of the East-street Mission.

As a result of the deputation which waited on the Premier some time ago, Cabinet has decided to aid Professor Bickerton, of Christchurch, to proceed to England and Europe to lay before scientists there his partial impact theory. It was decided yesterday to subsidise up to- £3OO any amount that may be raised by subscription for that purpose. The subsidv will be on £1 for £1 basis.
