SECOND EDITION. FOOTBALL.
EXCELSIOR CLUB. The annual general meeting of members of the Excelsior Football Club was held at Mrs Morgan's tearooms last evening, there being a good attendance of followers of the game. Mr Glass was voted to the chair. The secretary read the balance-sheet for the season 1909, which was adopted. A credit balance of £1 0s 2d was shown. The secretary was complimented on the manner in which he had brought the club to such a satisfactory financial position during the past season, and it was through his efforts that the club had a sum in hand' to start this season with. A resolution was carried unanimously that the secretary (Mr Graves) be thanked for the capable way in which he performed his onerous duties during the past season. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: Patron, Mr C. Hall, M.P. (re-elect-ed) ; president, Mr E. A. Ransom (reelected) ; vice-presidents, Messrs, J. T. Wilson, 11. H. Coltman, Syd. Bell, S. Bell, senr., G. Armstrong', G. Carmicliael, R. C. Bunny, J". Sxpith, W. Chick, C. Annett, E. Pri&-;'W. Snell, W. Johnston, T. Cotter, BE. Baker and Frame; secretary and treasurer, Mr G. Graves (re-elected). The chairman mentioned that the members had done a Avise. thing in, re-electing Mr Graves, as lie had devoted practically all his spare time to football last season. Mr Graves had' been an arduous worker for the club and members should feel proud that they had such an enthusiast to act in the capacity as secretary and treasurer.
It was resolved to allow the elec- ! tion of a captain and vice-captain to stand over until some future occasion.
A resolution was carried that the election of delegates to the. Subunion be held over until the next meeting. The election of committee was also allowed to stand over until some future date.
The subscription fee was fixed as folloavs : —Senior members, 5s ; junior, 2s 6d; third-class, Is, , A number of new members were elected.
It was decided to meet again on Thursday evening next at, the same place, when several important matters will be discussed. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting. NOTES. It was suggested at the meeting that a match be arranged to take 1 place oil Easter Mondoy. After a good deal of discussion it was decided that a match be played, and the matter was left in the hands of the secretary and Mr Munro to make final arrangements. It is probable that Ormondville will be without a club this season, • owing to some of last year's players abandoning the game and entering into the "stick and ball" pastime. Now that the general meeting of the Excelsior Club has been held, it behoves all members to indulge in systematic training. Last season, it was remarked last night, the senior team was very unfortunate in notsecuring the championship, owing to their neglect to train. However, they should make amends this season and annex the laurels from their rivals.
