CATHOLIC SOCIAL.

The" annual Catholic social was held last evening in the Drill Hill, and was very well patronised. Mr Savage's orchestra supplied excellent dance music, and extras were played by Misses Eaton and Duley and Mr Tai Heketa. During the evening songs i were rendered by the following gentlemen:—Messrs D. N. "Wilson, Melville, and Topi, and a duet by Topi and Tai Heketa, and recitations by Messrs Moriarty and Matthews. One of the chief events was the presentation of the Irish flag to the parish by the Irishmen of Dannevirke by Mr Dunne. Mr Power, in the absence of Father Cahill, suitably re-, plied, and the flag was unfurled and' three hearty cheers given. An excellent supper was supplied by the ladies of the parish-, assisted by a willing band of gentlemen waiters. Dancing was continued until the early hours of the morning. Mr J. M'Kearney acted in the capacity of M.C., and left nothing to be desired.
