ORMONDVILLE.
I The following handicaps have been i declared for the Union Defence Rifle Club's shoot next Wednesday, over the 600 and 800 yards ranges, for the president's (Mr D. M'Farlane) trophy. The standards are 31 and 43, with 7 shots and 10 shots respectively, bu tas it is the first time any of the members will have shot over 800 yards- the standard at that range is something of an experiment, and is subject to alteration:—L>. M'Farlane and W. G. Callender, scr., sex. ; G. D. May and It. Burtton, 3, 4; Dr Lewis, 2, 5; C. Barker, 3, 6; J. Nea'l and H. J. Newliuig, 5, 7; E. V. Warmington, J. W. Ellingham, and F. B. Curd, 6, 8; J. V. Castles, 6, 9; J. H. Morrison and J. Snaddon, 6, 10; T. Baines and It. S. Chadwick, 7, 9. NGRSEWOOD. The monthly School . Committee meeting, which should have been held, ltast evening, la.psed for want of a quorum. TAKAPAU. Mr and Mrs Johnston, Miss Johnston, and Miss Inglis, Oruawha.no, sail for the Old Country at the beginning of next month. We understand that Mr Johnston is principally taking the trip for his health. j The district has been thrown into mourning through the death of Mr -J. J. Connor, who has been a very useful member of the community and respective societies in the district. Mr Connor died yesterday in the private hospital, Waipawa. Much sorrow _is felt for Mrs Connor and the family in their bereavement.
