CRICKET.
The following players will represent the Dannevirke Cricket Club against Ormondville on Saturday next, at Ormondville: English. Monteith, Hansard, Bottrell, Griffin, Nash, M'Clure. A'Bear, Cross, Thorstensen, Congdon. The team will leave bv the 9 a.m. train. The attention of all cricketers will be directed to Ormondville to-morrow when the last match of the first round between that club and Dannevirke A will be played. There is every appearance of a battle royal resulting, as both clubs will be represented by the strongest elevens yet put into the field. Should Dannevirke win then Dannevirke, Norsewood and Ormondville will divide first position with one defeat each, but should Ormondville prove victors then Ormondvillle will lead with no defeats, followed by Norsewood with one and Dannevirke A with two defeats. _ Much j,nterest is also being taken in the meeting of Vivian (Ormondville) and Bottrell (Dannevirke), who are head and shoulders above the remainder of the players in sub-association batting averages. In a friendly match played at Ormondville on the 18th of last month between these two clubs Vivian made 79 while Bottrell ojily made 4; White, another member of the Ormondville Club, made 103 in this match. The Ormondville Club has been paying a lot of attention to its pitch and outfield during the past week, and the recent rains have allowed the pitch, to roll out like a billiard table, so some good scores should eventuate.
