WOOL SALES. [press association.] NAi'LEK, This Day. Dalget.v and Co., Ltd., have i'pceived the following cable from thoir Adelaide branch :—The wool sales opened with a goc-d attendance of buyers. Eleven thousand bales were offered, and 9500 sold. There was a nice assortment of Australian wool, of a thoroughly representative character, including 4000 bales of Southeast of South Australia wool, for which there was a very good demand. Greasy crossbred avools, greasy merino wools, and greasy lambs' wool show a rise of £d per lb. There is a less demand for wools suitable for America.

STOCK REPORT. N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE AGENCY CO. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report holding their usual monthly sale at Makotuku yesterday (Wednesday). Both sheep and cattle came forward in excess of advertised numbers, 700 sheep and 200 head of cattle being yarded. We are pleased to report a most successful sale, both local and outside buyers competing Aveli for nearly every lot yarded. We quote : Sheep, 4-tooth ewes 12s 7d, fat ewes 9s to 9s 6d, 2 and 4-tooth wethers (inferior) 9s 9d, aged wethers Bs, sound-mouth ewes Ss to 9s 3d, wether lambs (shorn) 5s 9d; cattle, 20-month steers to £3 os, 2-i-year steers £4 ss, springing heifers to £4 10s, fat cows £4 to £4 lis, backward heifers in calf £3 to £3 lis, empty 20-month heifers sold particularly well at from £2 15s to £3 ss, cows in milk £4 to £6, empty cows £3 to £3 12s 6d, cows and calves to £3 17s 6d, weaners (mixed) 16s to 30s; pigs, porkers 30s, weaners 10s to 10s 6d. The usual lot of sundries were offered, and made good values. Our next sale at this centre will take place on Wednesday, February 16.

ABRAHAM AND WILLIAMS. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Pahiatua sale as follows :—We had a moderate yarding of sheep and a heavy yarding of cattle. We experienced a strong enquiry for all classes of stock and quitted practically everything yarded. We quote: Two and four-tooth ewes (small) lis 9d to 12s 9d, s.m. ewes 8s 9d to lis, aged ewes 5s Id to 7s, 2 and 4-tooth wethers (small) 10s, shorn lambs 4s 3d to 6s, woolly lambs 6s 6d to Ss. Forward bullocks £5 6s, 2i- and 3-year steers £3 17s to £4 6s 6cl, 2-vear steers £3 10s, 18-month steers £2 15s 6d to £2 18s 6d, springing heifers £3 15s to £4 2s, heifers in calf £3 to £3 9s, 15 and 18-month heifers in calf £2 7s 6d to £2 16s 6d, empty forward heifers £3 2s 6d, empty forward cows £2 17s to £3 Bs, bulls £3 to £3 15s.
