COUNTRY CORRESPONDENCE.

[own correspondents.] NORSEWOOD. Mr J. O'Hara, chairman of directors, presided at the ordinary monthly meeting of the directorate of the Norsewood Dairy Company held yesterday afternoon. A large amount of routine business was transacted. The matter of fixing the price of the butter-fat for January was left in the hands of a committee to arrange later on. Accounts amounting to £1538 16s Id were passed for payment. Mr H. Campbell, the manager, stated that the present output of cheese was about 30001bs per day and butter about 300cwt.

MATAMAU. A meeting of Piri Piri settlers was held in t"he Public Hall, Matamau, last night, Mr J. Rule in the chair, the object being to discuss the offers received by the committee from firms willing to finance a co-operative factory in the block. A good attendance was present, and after considerable discussion the offer of Mr Hugh Black was accepted unanimously on the motion of Mr Peck, seconded bv Mr F. Rule, to erect a brancli cheese factory on the surveyed site, to be run in conjunction with the factory already near the Piri Piri siding. Mr Black's terms are exceptionally easy and he offers to run the concern for three years, after which time the settlers have the option to take the plant over and turn it "into a co-operative factory or continue as before. Mr Black thanked those present for their decision, and felt confident they would get on very well together. A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the meeting.
