CRICKET.

The match arranged for Saturday between the Dannevirke A team and a combination picked by the Rev. E. Robertshawe proved tobe a most interesting game and provided some good 'cricket ton both sides. By virtue of the fact that they were in. better practice the A team won by 42 runs, this margin being more than provided by BotterelFs tine innings, from which he retired after making •55 in his usual correct style. D. N. Wilson played lucky crioket for his 35, being missed several times, but Hansard knocked up his 25 in ehanceless style. M'Clure also played attractively for his dozen, and "Mr Extras' 5 contributed his quota of 10 to the score, which totalled the respectable sum of 162. For the clerical side Frank Armstrong bore the brunt of the bowling, maintaining a fine length and when lie was not getting wickets he was keeping the runs down. Skerman who took the ball late iri the innings came out with the fine average of 4 wickets for 2 runs. Batting for the loosers, F. Armstrong lifted a nice one into the pavilion for 4 and then cut Hansard for 1, but at his next' stroke was smartly caught by Barker. Jack Hartgill did some hard hitting for his 25, and Noel Robertshawe compiled his 18 by brisk cricket. Cross was the only other batsman to cause imich-trouble keeping his-wicket-tip and getting in a judicious hit now and then, 1 " until Barker beat [him after he had hit up 21. Hansard and D. N. Wilson bowled well for the winners during the greater part of the innings. Barker and Botterell finishing off the toil. The following are the scores: DANNEVIRKE.
