THE SLAUGHTERMEN'S STRIKE.
A SETTLEMENT ARRIVED AT. [press association.] CHRISTCHURCH, January 14. After several days of negotiating, matters, in dispute between the freezing companies and the. Canterbury Slaughtermen's Union were satisfactorily settled this afternoon. The agreement is satisfactory to both parties concerned. It is understood that an industrial agreement, embodying the understanding arrived at, will be drawn up and signed by the parties, and submitted to the Court of Arbitration for confirmation. WELLINGTON. January 14. This morning's New Zealand Times understands that a conference tonight of employers and slaughtermen's representatives arrived at an agreement to operate throughout at 25s per hundred and eight-hour day. with fines for damaged skins abolished and preference to unionists.
