HAWKE'S BAY LAND BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the H'awke's Bay Land Board was held yesterday. Present: Messrs T. N. Brodrick (Commissioner), 11. Groom, G. Wright, and W. E. Akroyd. Sydney Johnston applied for permission to take a road through section 5 and 9, block 8, Takapau, Hatuma setlement.—Approved, subject to applicant paying all expenses. The ranger reported on pastoral runs 13 and 14 Kuripapango and Ho-rotea.-—Government to be asked to consider the advisableness of withholding the land from sale at present for the purpose of planting trees and to prevent further denudation; if this cannot be done, Government to be recommended to offer the land at auction as one run at a rental of £3O a year, with a restriction that no more of the birch timber on the land be destroyed. Blakiston and Blakiston asked that a license should issue in favor of Mrs Martha Croebin Fris, widow of and administratrix in the estate of Lauretz Friis, deceased, to occupy with right of purchase section 55, block 4,"Norsewood district.—Approved. J. and R. O. Mil don applied for reinstatement as occupiers of forfeited sections 3 and 4, Elsthorpe village. —Granted. James Galloway asked leave to acquire the freehold of section 3, block 11. Mangatoro.—Approved. The following applications for annual leases were granted:—Eaihania Waipapa, sections 1 to 9, Mohaka ferrv reserve; H. A. Wall, section 5, block 1, Tahoraito; F. H. Loekyer, strip of land at Westshore. Andersen Christonsen applied for a renewable lease of section 50, block 1, Tahoraiti, Tamaki block, as unsurveved land, and without competition. —Government to be recommemnded to grant the application. Joseph King applied for a renewal of his lease of small grazing run 15, Maungaharuru.—Granted at an increase in the rental from £4O to £135 6s 3d per annum. The following transfers were approved :—Section 11, block 1. Hatuma, A. S. Black to M. H. Collins; section 50, block 9, Kumeroa, J. F. Gleeson to J. How at: section 5, block 3, A. W. Kendordine to M. B. H. Priest; section 44. block 7, Oero, J. Paddison to A. W. Kenderdine; section 20, block 11, Lindsay settlement. J. Carrick to J. Brandon: section 3, block 12. Weber, J. 15. White to J. G. C. M'Culloch; pastoral run 6, Waitara, Guthrie-Smith and Stuart to W. H. Guthrie-Smith ; section 1, block 11, Forest Gate, A. R. Glovn to W. and C. Crown. The following applications for permission to sub-lease were granted: Section 49, block 9, Kumeroa, C. Gregory to G. E. Swan: section 31, block 14, Pohui, Neal and Close, Ltd., to A. Dunn. The board then proceeded to hx the unset prices of the sections m the Clvdobank settlement.
