[press association.] HASTINGS, This Day. Arthur Manning, who pleaded guilty, was committed for sentence on a charge of forging and uttering a cheque for £ls. Accused, was also remanded to Wellington next Tuesday, to answer a similar charge. A further charge of forging the name of A. H. Holland at Christchurch pending against Manning. Mr Toi'lesse, manager of the Union Bank, was presented by the Mayor on behalf of clients, with an illuminated address and a purse of one hundred sovereigns, on the occasion of his departure to assume the management of the Waimate branch. WELLINGTON, This Day. In connection with the raid on Chinese premises in Haining-street, several Europeans were charged with being found in a common gaming house, and were fined £2 each, in default seven days' imprisonment. The charges against the Chinese were adjourned till Thursday next.
