NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW.

[press association.] PALMERSTON N., to-day. The National Dairy Show, opened to-day with fine weather, and a large attendance of the dairying community. The entries this year are considerably in- advance of the previous year's, Avith the sole exception of fat stock, which show a falling oft' numerically. The show was officially opened by Hon. T."" Mackenzie, the Minister cf Agriculture, who congratulated the association on the great strides made, and said he learnt from Mr Cuddie, Dairy Commissioner, that the dairying classes were of a high order of quality, and he- Avas thoroughly satisfied with thorn. Judging commenced at an early hour in the morning. T*he championship in apples, open to the whole dominion, was won by Mr Cushing, of dive, Mr J. W. Mayo, Palmerston, being second, and the Stoko Fruitgrowers' Association (Nelson) iliird. Twenty entries Avero received from different- parts "of the dominion.
