SALVATION ARMY.
Large congregations attended the meetings at the Salvation . Army's new hall yesterday. A special feature of the afternoon service wa& the forming of a corps cadet brigade, oon.- ; sisting of six young people, whose ages range- from 13 to 17 years. The corps cadet is to be trained in corps work, also in the doctrines^ and disr cipline of the Salvation Army and Bible study. Sirs Staff-Captain » Simms and Mrs Captain Hodge were appointed corps cadet guardians. It is hoped in the days that are to come these young people wilL become officers in the Salvation Army. The night meeting was well attended, the hall being three parts full. The band and singing company helped well in. the musical part of ihe meeting. The band are .heard to better advantage in the new hall. Captain Caporn, who was promoted last week at the opening ceromonyi and is appointed to take charge of the corps at Apiti, '.gave a 'farewell address, and was listened •to attentively. Staff-Captain Simms conducted the meetings, and was assisted by Mrs Simms and the local officers and soldiers. The staff-captain leave* for Napier to-morrow to conduct a special meeting there, and is to attend a coffee, supper and public meeting next week at Pahiatua.
